BRA SISTER SIZES EXPLAINED

You may have yet to hear of them, but bra sister sizes are very important. Sister sizes are the sizes you can adjust up or down to if you find the band size you got from measuring your bra size doesn’t fit quite right. So if you’re shopping for a new bra or bralette, but find your usual size doesn’t fit as it should, or is out of stock, then use the bra sister size chart below to adjust your fit…

HOW TO ADJUST YOUR BRA MEASUREMENT

If it’s your cups that are too big or small, you should try a different cup size. If after measuring your bra size you’re still finding issues with the fit of bras in that size, you may need to try some different sizes of bands.

But if it’s your band size that isn’t right rather than just sizing up, you’ll need to adjust both the band and cup size you go for. This is because if you were to measure as 34DD, but are finding the band is too tight, you can’t just switch to a 36DD as that’ll make the cups bigger too. Instead, you’ll need to work out your adjusted size, known as ‘bra sister sizes’ using the chart below, these sizes ensure the cup volume of the bra remains the same. For example, if you went from 34DD to 32E, your band would be smaller, but the cup volume would remain the same.

BRA SISTER SIZE CHART

To use the chart, find your current size and if you need to go smaller, choose the size to the left. Need to go bigger? Choose the size to the right of your original measurement.

You might find that with some bra styles, you’ll generally need to size up or down, which is totally normal.
