How to stay happy and healthy at home with Boux

If you're anything like me the thought of being 'locked down' can fill you with dread! Staying focused, happy and healthy whilst in the house all day can be tough. It is tempting to stay in your PJ’s all day and not move from your bed, but when cabin fever kicks in it's time to get up and ready! While we're forced to stay put it's important we stay fit and healthy, and we can even make the most of isolation to come out feeling rejuvenated and refreshed! I am going to share my quarantine routine with you and hope it helps you make the most of your day.

Start each day as you mean to go on

Set an alarm and try and get up at the same time each day. The longer I laze around in the morning, the harder it is to get up and make a positive start, so I try and get up early. I’ve been starting the day with some yoga and found it really helps me have a positive mindset and clear head. There are lots of great daily yoga classes on Instagram Live at the moment – I’ve been loving @digmefitness @emilymouufit and @heartcorelife! Once you’ve eased in, set your intentions for the day. Writing a to-do list really helps organise my thoughts and keep myself on track.

Stay focused

When you’re ready to start your day, change into some comfy loungewear and set up a clear workspace. I find working somewhere bright and airy makes it easier to stay focused; open a window and let some fresh air in whilst you’re working too. Don’t be too hard on yourself - take regular tea breaks or have some fruit or a smoothie. When I'm not working, I get on top of the jobs that I wouldn’t usually have time to do - sorting through clothes to give to charity, cleaning or organising drawers or cupboards... channel your inner Marie Kondo!

Give yourself a break

Take a lunch hour. I have been enjoying having my own kitchen to make a fresh, healthy lunch. If you have enough time, try to enjoy some fresh air on a lunchtime walk. If you are not working, spend a couple hours in the afternoon doing something for the heart - reading, baking or slow cooking something for later. You could also use the afternoon to pick up the phone and check in on the elderly or vulnerable in your family, or friends who are on their own.

Keep moving

Once I’ve logged off for the day I have been enjoying doing a short home workout; Results with Lucy have some excellent workouts you can easily do at home with little or no equipment!

and… breathe

Cook a healthy dinner and relax. Use the rest of the evening to wind down, catch up with friends and family over a video call, snuggle up and watch your favourite TV show, do a hair/face mask or have a bubbly bath.
